Many visitors enjoy hiking and there is plenty to consider in the nearby national park. Find a wide variety of choices on the Recommended Day Hikes page. One that is close and we often recommend is accessed from Whiteoak Boundary Parking. There is a short, easy hike to the Whiteoak Lower Falls and access to others. The same website can be navigated back to “plan your visit” and navigating to Recommended Day Hikes.
For those interested in a fun little ride, consider Fieldstone Trails, located at Blue Quartz Winery in Etlan, VA. A guided ride will be provided, about an hour in length. Then enjoy a beer or a glass of wine after your ride. Contact Fieldstone Trails at fieldstonetrails@gmail.com.
The former plantation home of the fourth President of the United States is located nearby in the county of Orange, Virginia. Restored to the period condition of President James Madison and his wife Dolley. A great place to learn about the father of the U.S. Constitution with guided tours and a chance to walk the beautiful grounds.

Visit the Town of Orange, just 15 minutes by car from the Hill of Content Bed & Breakfast for shopping opportunities and a range of eating establishments. See us for menus and suggestions. Or travel further around the county just south of us.
Consider a ride on a river care of Rivanna River Company in Charlottesville. Whether a kayak, canoe or tubing, some potential fun, especially in the spring. Best time for boating is from April to June. Tubing is available after Memorial Day. Reservations are required. Departure locations vary with trip chosen, so contact Rivanna River Co. to know where to go and figure on an hour, plus or minus, from the B&B.
Access the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park from the Swift Run Gap entrance, just a half hour away. Drive the scenic road or stop for a snack or activity.
